All Qantas aircraft were grounded for two days in late October as the airline's management sought to apply pressure to trade unions during an ongoing labour dispute. The airline grounded its entire domestic and international network in protest at the continuing industrial action by the Australian Licensed Engineers Union, the Transport Workers Union and the Australian and International Pilots Union. A total of 447 flights were cancelled.
