The US Air Force has demonstrated a beyond line of sight (BLOS) control capability for its Northrop Grumman EQ-4 Global Hawk. In February 2019, the Air Force announced it had been operating the EQ-4 from Al Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates using BLOS satcom technology. Previously, control of the aircraft while airborne has required coordination with a number of other bases.
