At (east two additional Leonardo Helicopters CH-149 Cormorants will be acquired for the Royal Canadian Air Force and the existing fleet will undergo a Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) programme to enhance the country's rotary-wing SAR capabilities. The announcement was made by Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan while visiting Canadian Forces Base Comox, British Columbia, on August 22, 2019.
