BRAZILIAN-BASED Embraer introduced its C-390 Millennium medium-lift multi-mission aircraft - a new name and designation for the KC-390 platform. The announcement was made at the Dubai Airshow in November, with the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer adding that the C-390 designation "reflects increased flexibility and value for operators" The aircraft can be employed in a variety of roles, including tactical transport, search and rescue (SAR), paratroop/cargo insertion, aerial firefighting and medical evacuation, as well as performing in humanitarian missions. The KC-390 designation will be retained for customers who order - or currently operate - the aircraft with an additional air-to-air refuelling role.
