FOLLOWING A major review by senior managers, NASA has cleared its X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology (QueSST) test aircraft for final assembly and system integration. QueSST will be NASA's first large-scale manned X-plane in more than three decades. The review - dubbed Key Decision Point-D (KDP-D) - marks the final programmatic hurdle for the X-59 QueSST before NASA officials convene again later this year to approve the aircraft's first flight, which is currently slated to take place in 2021.
