Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 (VMFA-122) based at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina took part in the recent Red Flag exercise at Nellis AFB, Nevada. One of the squadron's aircraft present at Nellis was F/A-18C BuNo 164264/'DC01' with full colour tail markings comprising Werewolf artwork. Until January 2008, VMFA-122 was known as the 'Crusaders', a nickname held since 1959. Its moniker was changed to the 'Werewolves', its original World War Two nickname, before deploying to Al Asad AB, Iraq, later in 2008 on its first combat deployment since the Vietnam War.
