Argentina's Pucara first found fame in the Falklands War of 1982, when the aircraft's pilots engaged British forces.rnBut in June of the previous year, the rugged twin-prop was also introduced into service by the Fuerza Aerea Uruguaya (FAU - Uruguayan Air Force), a largely unknown fact. Produced by FMA (Fabrica Miltar De Aviones - since 1995, Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina SA - LMAASA), thernnever exercised). The first two, FAU 220 and FAU 221, were flown in from the Cordoba factory to Durazno by FAU pilots on June 2,1981. The full complement of six aircraft was achieved with the arrival of FAU 225 on October 8, 1981 but this aircraft was lost in a fatal accident on July 22, 1993, during a practise ground attack sortie.
