The first AgustaWestland A109 Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) for the Royal New Zealand Air Force made its maiden flight on February 12 from the manufacturer's Vergiate facility in Italy.rnThe A109LUHs will replace the Bell 47G-3B Siouxes in the training role, although two will be equipped with a winch for rescue work. They will also undertake light transport duties. The first two are due to arrive in NewrnZealand by the end of 2010, with the other three due to be delivered by July 2011. All will be based at RNZAF Base Ohakea. New Zealand signed the contract for the new helicopters in May 2008.
