Atlas Air has been awarded a contract by Boeing Commercial Aircraft to operate the fleet of four Boeing 747(LCF) Dreamlifters outsized freighters. The cargo carrier announced details of the award onrnMarch 4. Atlas Air will operate the aircraft under a Crew, Maintenance and Insurance contract, as they will remain the property of the manufacturer. The agreement is due to come into effect in the second half of this year and willrnrun for nine years. The Dreamlifters are used to transport structures of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from component manufacturing sites across the world to the final assembly line at Everett, Washington.
