Airbus Military delivered the first CASA C295 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) to the Servicio de Aviacion de la Armada de Chile (Chilean Naval Air Service) on April 30 at Vina del Mar, Concon, during a ceremony presided over by Admiral Edmundo Gonzalez Robles, Commander in Chief of the Navy. C295 MPA 501 (c S-066) has been assigned to VP-1, which is currently equipped with Embraer EMB-111ANs and Lockheed P-3ACH Orions. Three C295 MPAs were ordered by Chile in October 2007, while five options were taken out at the same time. The aircraft is equipped with the EADS Fully Integrated Tactical System to undertake maritime patrol, exclusive economic zone surveillance and search and rescue missions.
