The first Eurocopter EC725 destined for the Forca Aerea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force) made its maiden flight on May 26 at Marignane in southern France. Following tests and evaluation by the FAB it will enter service with the 1° Esquadrao, 8° Grupo de Aviation (1 Squadron, 8 Aviation Group) this year. The EC725 is the first of 50 for Brazil, 16 each for the FAB, navy and army, and two for the presidency, but flown by the FAB.
