The B-1B or BONE (aka the BONE, from B-ONE) continues to provide air component commanders in Afghanistan with armed over-watch around the clock, seven-days-a-week, flying long, exhaustive missions - as it has done since 2001. But their role is only possible because of the support given by a variety of units also based at Ellsworth AFB. They too work long shifts, six days a week, in extremely hot conditions, maintaining the B-1s, loading them with precision-guided weapons and helping to launch and recover them is a relentless mission.
