The NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) project suffered a blow recently when Denmark decided to withdraw from it. The decision was made by the Danish Government in late June and announced by the Defence Minister, Gitte LiLLelund Bech, as part of a number of budget cuts aimed at reducing its 2010 to 2014 defence spending by almost DKK2.9 billion (￡326 million). Denmark had pledged to contributernDKK380 million (￡43 million) towards the project.
