Scaled Composites completed the first manned captive flight of its Rutan Model 339 SpaceShipTwo (SS2) VSS Enterprise suborbital spaceplane on July 15, under th Model 348 WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) mothership VMS Eve. Pilots Peter Siebold and Michael Alsbury flew inside the vehicle to monitor its systems and conduct several tests. The flight was the third for VSS Enterprise and the 33rd for Eve. SS2 was carried aloft for its first flight on March 22 and second on May 16.
