Italy has placed an order for two AgustaWestland AWlOls equipped for combat search and rescue (CSAR). The helicopters are the first of an eventual 12 for 9° Stormo of the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (Italian Air Force) to replace the AgustaWestland AB212s of 21° Gruppo based at Grazzamse and 22° Gruppo at Pisa. In addition, it is planned that ten search and rescue configured AgustaWestland AW139s will be acquired to replace some of the Sikorsky HH-3F Pelicans in service with 15° Stormo. The Pelican fleet has recently been subject to some reorganisation, with 83° Centra SAR of the 15° Stormo based at Rimini/ Miramare moving to Cervia/San Giorgio on September 21 and becoming the 83° Gruppo CSAR, and the 85° Gruppo CSAR already based there became the 85° Centra CSAR. To mark the move HH-3F MM81346 '15-34' had a special livery applied.
