On November 15 the second Sikorsky S-701 Black Hawk International assembled by PZL Mielec in Poland completed its maiden flight. PZL Mielec is the final assembly centre for the S-70i, although the second (SP-YVA, c 0002) is the first of its kind to fly in Poland. The first aircraft (N4905N, c 0001) has recently completed production flight testing at Sikorsky's Development Flight Center at West Palm Beach, Florida, after more than 50 hours in the air (further to S-70i Flown, August, pl4). It will now be used for trials of optional equipment being offered to S-70i customers to undertake missions including humanitarian relief, search and rescue, medical evacuation, command and control, and armed patrol.
