On October 27 low-cost carrier flydubai became the first airline to receive a Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG) with the manufacturer's new Sky Interior cabin installed. Priorto handover the aircraft (737-8KN[W] N6046P, c 40237, to become A6-FDJ) was exhibited to potential customers at Everett-Snohomish County Airport, Paine Field, Washington. The Sky Interior features sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, larger tow bins and LED illumination, and is the first of a package of improvements being implemented by Boeing for the Next Generation 737 (see Boeing 737 Upgrades, June 2009, p15). Airframe and engine upgrades are due to begin certification trials soon for service entry in 2012.
