The republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) is investigating a mid-life upgrade for its fleet of 146 Lockheed Martin F-16A/B Block 20s. Lockheed Martin and the US Air Force were approached earlier this year to gather options on improving the fleet. The upgrade is designed to be limited in scope however, as the country still hopes to acquire 66 new F-16C/D Block 50/52s and would not be able to afford them on top of carrying out extensive modifications to the existing fighters.
