General t Michael 'Buzz" Moseley has been the United States Air Force (USAF) Chief of Staff since September 2, 2005, and is expected to hold the post until that date in 2009. Moseley is a former T-37B 'Tweet' instructor and current F-15 Eagle pilot who has commanded a squadron, a wing, the Fighter Weapons School, the Ninth Air Force, and from 2001 to 2003 US air operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Like other service chiefs, he is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a pivotal figure in policy and planning, but he does not command combat forces.
