The third and fourth Boeing CC-177 Globemaster Ills for the Canadian Forces were delivered in early May. All four of the transports have been assigned to 429 Squadron, part of 8 Wing based at CFB Trenton, Ontario, and are responsible for providing strategic airlift. The third aircraft for Canada (177703) was completed by Boeing on March 7 and became the first of the order to be fitted with the AN/AAQ-24(v)13 Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) self- protection system, which was installed at Long Beach, California, where the heavy airlifter is built.
