A boeing 767-3yoer(c 26205) has been acquired by the Fuerza Aerea de Chile (FACh, Chilean Air Force) as FACh 985 for strategic and presidential transport duties. It will be able to carry up to 250 passengers 6,000nm (11,000km), while in the long-range VIP transport role it will be a direct replacement for the Boeing 707-330B Aguila (FACh 903, c 18926). It is also expected that the sole Boeing 737-500 (FACh 921) in Chilean service will be retired soon, as its short range makes it of limited use in the VIP transport role. The 767 arrived at Merino Benitez Airport, near the capital Santiago, on August 29 and was presented to the public by the FACh Commander-in-Chief, Ricardo Ortega Perrier, on September 1. In service it will be flown by Grupo 10, part of the II Brigada Aerea (2nd Air Brigade) at Pudahuel near Santiago. It was previously operated by the Portuguese leasing firm Euro Atlantic Airways as CS-TLG and was acquired by the FACh in July 2008 for $58 million (￡33 million).
