THE AIRBUS H160 twin-engine helicopter has received European Aviation Safety Agency type certification, with Federal Aviation Administration approval set to follow ahead of the first customer delivery, Certification and initial deliveries were initially expected in 2018, but the schedule slipped. Airbus Helicopters used three flight-test prototypes to develop and certify the H160, comprising two test examples and the first serial aircraft, as well as two static specimens for dynamic loads and systems. More than 1,500 flying hours were involved in testing.
