BOOM SUPERSONIC is due to unveil its XB-1 supersonic demonstrator in a virtual rollout on October 7. The jet is a one-third scale demonstrator for a future supersonic airliner proposed by the US start-up company, Overture. Boom has achieved several production milestones over the last year, including joining the fuselage to the landing gear, completely closing the wing and fuselage structures and undertaking drop tests on the undercarriage. The firm intends to start test-flying the XB-1 demonstrator from next year. A company statement read: "Combining advanced aerodynamic design, carbon composite material and high-efficiency propulsion, [the] XB-1 demonstrates the key technologies for safe, efficient, and sustainable supersonic flight. The completion of XB-1's assembly marks a turning point in commercial viability for supersonic travel."
