British Army Air Corps Boeing/AgustaWestland Apache AH.2attack helicopters are making their operational debut in Afghanistan and receiving praise from the soldiers on the ground as well as senior commanders. Currently manned by 656 Squadron, they are providing air support against Taliban forces as part of Operation Herrick (the UK's contribution to NATO's International Security Assistance Force and US-led Operation Enduring Freedom). Eight examples from 9 Regiment at Dishforth, North Yorkshire were despatched in April 2006 to support the Helmand Task Force (HTF).
