Britain has one of the richest traditions in aerospace having produced a vast array of aircraft types over the years. While the building of passenger aircraft is now limited to small numbers of Britten-Norman Islanders, the defence industry is manufacturing the Eurofighter Typhoon, BAE Systems Hawk, AgustaWestland AWl0is and Lynx. However, these four types alone do not fully account for the ￡20 billion earned last year or ￡26 billion of orders that were secured. So how does the UK's industry achieve such impressive figures?
