One of the most aesthetically attractive military aircraft ever to go into production, the Hawker Hunter was a joy to fly and its later variants were true multi-role combat aircraft capable of carrying a wide range of weapons and sensors. It was built in larger numbers than any other British jet fighter and would have continued in both development and production had an inept Government not cancelled work on it after the notorious Defence Review of 1957, which stopped so many projects. Despite that, some Hunters continued in service for another four decades and Hawker re-manufactured hundreds of examples for second and even third generation buyers.
