Saturday, May 6, marked the end of an era in US military airlift capability, for it was on that day that the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter made its final flight. Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, was the location for this event, with C-141C 66-0177 venturing aloft as part of the ceremonies to mark the demise of a true workhorse after over four decades. That this aircraft was chosen for this task was no accident - 66-0177 had the distinction of repatriating the first US prisoners of war from Hanoi, Vietnam, back in February 1973.
