Q What attracted you to the Middle East aviation sector? Mervat Sultan (MS): I have dreamed of becoming a pilot since I was a child. Growing up I did not have the opportunity to pursue this dream, but when the opportunity arose for me to work in the industry, I jumped at it. Helene Garcia (HG): I was drawn to the sector by the need for better guidance and higher standards in aeronautical colleges and MROs. I came to UAE in 2007 as an A/C maintenance instructor with Emirates and I quickly identified a massive lack of hands-on skills training, hand-skilled experts and general knowledge in avionics. I decided I was going to make a difference.
