Just over a year ago, in early November 2005, EADS Joint Chief Executive (and former Airbus Chief Executive) Noel Forgeard was in Asia to make peace with Singapore Airlines (SIA). The operator was - and, after several delays, is still - to be the first to fly commercial service with the Airbus A380 very-large airliner (VLA), for which the delivery schedule had started to drift alarmingly. Forgeard, who should have been more familiar with the situation than anyone, was in Singapore to confirm the manufacturer's 'total commitment' to the city-state's national carrier.
