Heathrow is exactly the type of large hub airport that the Airbus A380 was designed for. Dino Carrara reports on the major redevelopment work taking place in order for the UK's premier gateway to be able to handle the new double-decker airliner. Work is well underway at London's Heathrow Airport in preparation for handling the Airbus A380, which most airlines are expected to configure for 555 passengers. The first aircraft is expected for compatibility tests in either December 2005 or January 2006, with Singapore Airlines the first carrier to start passenger services into Heathrow by the middle of next year.
