Belgian Defence Air Component's 350 Smaldeel organised a Fighter Meet at its home base of Florennes over July 11-15, 2005. It was part of a Tactical Discussion and Procedures Update (TDPU) aimed at improving knowledge of the Link 16 datalink system, also known as Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) and Multifunction Information Distribution System (MIDS). The system represents the latest generation of tactical datalinks. It is a high-capacity, jam-resistant, secure, extended line-of-sight and flexible communication, navigation and identification (CNI) system which allows for greater situational awareness and information exchange. Each participant in the communication link can see the battle space electronically, including assigned targets or threats.
