The end of the year 2003 marked a new beginning for the RAF College Cranwell in Lincolnshire. On December 16 the first two Raytheon Beech King Air B200s, G-RAFJ (c BB-1829, ex N6129N) and G-RAFK (c BB-1830, ex N50130), were delivered to join 45 (Reserve) Squadron. These were the first of seven examples due, to arrive here, fresh off the production line, and they will be operated by Serco Defence and Aerospace under a ￡60 million contract awarded on June 26, 2003 (Airscene, August 2003, p9), to provide an RAF Multi-Engine Pilot Training Interim Solution. All seven are being leased through NAC Aviation - the exclusive UK distributor for Bcechcraft products - with the RAF leasing flying hours on the aircraft from Serco. The latter is also providing two Frasca simulators as part of the five-year contract, which includes three one-year extension options.
