More than 500 delegates, including 41 of the ERA'S 65 airline presidents, travelled to Austria for its annual General Assembly, held from September 29 to October 1. The organisation, which consists of regional airlines, airports, manufacturers, leasing companies and equipment suppliers, launched two new initiatives. The ERA Academy is a new project aimed at offering internet-based aviation training to airlines, airports, manufacturers and regulators in technical, safety, regulatory and operational areas and ERA'S newly-published 'A.Vision for Europe'. This document, prepared in advance of the next session of the European Parliament in October, calls for a new regulatory framework to be introduced to ensure that intra-European air transport is allowed to grow and to stop it being hampered by aviation authorities.
