A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Saab and Pilatus on March 28 to jointly develop a new training package that could be offered to the Flygvapnet (Swedish Air Force). The MoU covers work to define a new training system based around the Swiss company's PC-21 trainer that would be offered to the Swedish Air Force should it decide to replace its existing Saab SK 60s. Saab currently provides full spectrum support to the SK 60 fleet under a 'turnkey' contract with the Forsvarets Materielverk (Swedish Defence Materiel Administration). The agreement is linked to Switzerland's selection of the Saab JAS 39E Gripen to fulfil its Partial (Northrop) Tiger (Ⅱ) Replacement requirement.
