Ask anyone in the massive aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and technical services industry to list the half-dozen most important companies in the business and you are guaranteed to hear the name 'Lufthansa Technik' in the reply. Almost certainly, the person you ask will list the German company either first or second in responding to your question. Any MRO and technical-services company which generates €4.4 billion ($6.1 billion) a year in operating revenues and made an operating profit of €404 million ($561 million), as Lufthansa Technik did in 2013, has to be taken seriously.
