On December 11 the Riksdagen (Swedish Parliament) formally approved plans to acquire the Saab JAS39 Gripen E (the single-seat version of the Gripen NG). Sweden's defence committee had earlier agreed plans to develop and procure the aircraft, on the proviso that a foreign customer acquired at least 20.
