The first flight of the third prototype Embraer Legacy 500 (PT-ZFV, c 55000003) from the company's facility at Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo in Brazil was announced on March 22. By that time the first two prototypes of the midsize business jet had logged 122 hours in 66 flights, with 78 hours and 43 of the flights accumulated since the maiden flight of the second prototype was announced on February 15 (see Second Legacy 500 Flying, April, p17). PT-ZFV will be used for testing avionics, noise emissions, electrical systems and interior equipment. A fourth aircraft will complete the flight-test fleet, and will be used later as a demonstrator by Embraer.
