Because all Saudi Typhoons are Tranche 2 aircraft, which will not gain a full air-to-ground capability until P1EA (Phase 1 Enhancement, part A, also known as Change Proposal 210) is released in mid-2012, there was some initial speculation that the Saudi aircraft would attain an interim capability, similar to that gained by RAF Tranche 1 Typhoons under the austere air-to-ground programme (Change Proposal 193).
