The initial Boeing747-8 Intercontinental VIP left the manufacturer's factory in Everett, Washington, on February 28, bound for its Global Transport & Executive Systems (GTES) facility in Wichita, Kansas. Fitted out with what Boeing described as a "minimal" interior, it will spend two years being completed at GTES before delivery in 2014. Although Boeing has not disclosed the identity of its 747-81 VIP customers, the aircraft is scheduled to be delivered to Qatar Amiri Flight (see Qatar's Big Business Jet, March, p5).
