Israel Aircraft Industry's (IAI) Bedek division has provided more details of its upgraded Boeing 767 Multi-Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) equipped with a boom refuelling system that was marketed at the Singapore Airshow in February. Development of the upgraded 767 tanker design started in 2009. It features a fly-by-wire boom with a remote aerial refuelling operator station and dayight optical systems, in addition to wingtip-mounted refuelling pod systems. The upgraded tanker design is based on the Boeing 767-200ER modified for Colombia in 2010 (see Colombian Boeing 767 MMTT, October 2010, p4), which was equipped with two wingtip-mounted IAI ARP-3 air refuelling pods. The upgraded system has reportedly finished testing, and first delivery - to an unspecified European customer - is scheduled to take place later this year.
