The AN/APG-79 AESA (active electronically scanned array) radar is designed to support FORCEnet, the US Navy's concept for a fully networked battle space. Built with secure, interoperable technology, the APG-79 has the capability to share information with manned, unmanned and ground-based systems for close co-operation on the battlefield. It helps enable the Super Hornet to perform as an essential node in the air and ground information network.
