Nigeria's worst air disaster in 20 years has claimed around 160 lives, after a Dana Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83 (5N-RAM, c 53019) crashed into an apartment building in Lagos, Nigeria, whilst on its way from Abuja to Lagos on the afternoon of June 3. The aircraft was destroyed by fire after experiencing dual engine failure, killing all 153 on board, as well as at least six people on the ground. Most of the fatalities were Nigerian nationals, although the passengers included a family of six Americans, as well as four Chinese, two Lebanese citizens and a French woman.
