Boeing has reaffirmed that it's in no rush to launch an upgraded 777 family, despite pressure from influential customers. For months the company has been analysing concepts for new versions of the twin-jet as part of its 777X studies, looking at introducing new engines and making greater use of composite materials in the airliner's structure. Emirates, Qatar Airways and the International Airlines Group are among carriers that have urged Boeing to make a quick decision about the upgrades (see 777X Decision Required Now, June, p21).
