This year's AAD exhibition was dominated by commercial, general and executive aviation. Seventy of the 90 aircraft on static display were civil - the world's leading aircraft manufacturers recognising that Africa is a growth market for commercial aviation. Boeing estimates that the African commercial aviation market will require 900 new airliners worth $120 billion over the next 20 years, while arch rival Airbus is predicting average annual passenger growth rates to, from and within Africa will reach 5.7% over the next 20 years, compared to a world average growth rate of 4.7% per year.
