In the process of telling Robb's story, General Baughn provides the reader with a vivid and detailed account of aerial combat as seen from the cockpit of a P-51 and insight into the daily routine experienced by pilots and ground crews on the ground in England. In addition to telling a great aviation story, General Baughn provides historical background on the air war over Europe by weaving through the book excerpts from an Armed Forces Staff College thesis supposedly written by Robb Baines ten years after World War II.
