Space-related education, coupled with the need for technical expertise, is critical in developing and, sustaining a space cadre. However, after more than 20 years, Air Force Space Command still lacks an adequate strategy to ensure that its officers possess the necessary proficiency, particularly with regard to graduate education. The authors argue that the Air Force must expand its commitment to securing the "high ground" of space via advanced education for its space professionals.
