WHEN ITS JOURNEY hitasnag, the Mars Curiosity rover did what any of us would do: It took a long look around and snapped some photos. The NASA rover's front left wheel became stuck at a 30-degree angle in June, as it reached the rim of a large crater now called Perseverance Valley, where the rover spent the next two weeks while mission engineers uploaded a fix. See the whole panorama, which features channels and notches that may have been formed by long-ago flowing water or ice, at jpl.nasa.gov/spaceimages.
