Air Force Global Strike Command, declaring 2012 the Year of the B-52, celebrated the anniversary by scheduling airshow appearances by crews from the Air Force's two active B-52 units, the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, and the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.
