How to sing "happy birthday" to a Piper Cub: Get a passel of the little taildraggers together and let their 65-horsepower Continentals hum in unison. That's how Cub owners across the country celebrated the airplane's 75th in 2012. Some 85 Piper J-3s filled a field at Hartford Municipal Airport (left) in Wisconsin on July 21. Mike Collins of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association was on hand in Hartford to make the aerial group photo as well as the panning shot of a Cub approaching the runway (right, bottom).
