NEW HORIZONS' principal investigator, Alan Stern, makes his position on Pluto's planethood clear in the second sentence of his new book. When talking about the liftoff of the New Horizons space probe, Stern describes its destination as Pluto, the "last of the unvisited planets known at the dawn of the Space Age."
